HE'S a superstar in the sea and now surfing champion Taj Burrow is riding waves of the Hollywood kind.

The playboy beach stud, who holds the third spot on the world surfing rankings after Kelly Slater and Jordy Smith, has made his first foray into film.

Burrow recently shot scenes for Blue Crush 2, a follow-up to 2002 favourite starring Kate Bosworth, which pulled in $51.6 million at the international box office.

Confidential understands the one-time world No. 1 recently wrapped his involvement with the flick while competing in the APR tour in South Africa, where most of the movie is being filmed.

"He loved it," our source said.

Burrow, who could not be contacted yesterday, is believed to play himself in the flick.

He is following the lead from fellow Aussie Layne Beachley, who made a cameo in the first Blue Crush.

It's a major coup for our Down Under beach culture, considering former Home And Away babe and Step-Up 3D star Sharni Vinson has also landed a lead part.

While the original was set in Hawaii, the sequel revolves around a teen called Dana (played by One Tree Hill actress Sasha Jackson) who flees Malibu after her mother's death and dares to fulfil her dream of conquering Jefferys Bay, one of the five most renowned surfing destinations.

The bay's break is widely regarded as the best right-hand point break in the world, but is highly dangerous.

One part of the wave, known as Supertubes, can break for about 300m.
